Trash and Recycling

AmeriWaste is Kemah's waste removal contractor. For questions or concerns, contact their customer service at 281-331-8400.  

Service Details:  

Pickup Days: Monday & Thursday (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; have items out by 7:00 a.m.)  Customer Service Line

Heavy Trash: Thursdays, curbside (limit 2 items, under 50 lbs). 

Green Waste: Mondays & Thursdays (limit 6 cans, bags, or bundles; bundles max 5 ft in length, 18 in diameter, 50 lbs).  

Recycling: Tuesdays (combine recyclables: glass, plastics, cardboard, paper, aluminum).  

Observed holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If a pickup falls on a holiday, it resumes on the next scheduled day.

Residential Household Trash
Residents receive trash service twice weekly, on Monday and Thursday. Trash bins should be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on the scheduled collection day.

Heavy Trash is collected on Thursday. Limit 2 items.

  • Appliances, furniture, mattresses, and similar items may be placed curbside for collection, provided they do not exceed 50 pounds. Additional fees may apply. 
  • Ameriwaste employees can not go onto private property to remove any items. 
  • Appliances that contain refrigerant must be drained and tagged by a certified refrigerant recycler before disposal. 
  • Water heaters must be drained prior to setting out at the curb. 

Sheetrock, concrete, lumber, bricks, or similar items are considered construction debris and may require additional fees. To have these items picked up, please contact the AmeriWaste Customer Service Office at 281-331-8400.

Green Waste (Cans, Bags & Bundles) is provided twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays.

  • Limited to a combination of six (6)  cans, bags, and/or bundles per week.  
  • Branches and twigs must be cut, bundled, and tied.  
    • Bundles may not exceed 5 feet in length or 18 inches in diameter.
    • Bundles must not exceed 50 lbs. in weight.
