Galveston County Health District (GCHD) today announces one additional positive COVID-19 case in a Galveston County resident. This brings the county’s case total to 12.
The individual is a female in her 40s who recently traveled internationally and had contact with a positive COVID-19 patient. She presented to an area clinic and is currently self-quarantined.
For confidentiality purposes, the health district is not releasing additional identifying information. GCHD is conducting investigations and is working to quickly identify close contacts for all cases. The health district does not comment on case specifics, including the person’s city of residence or what businesses they may have visited.

“New orders issued earlier today from Governor Greg Abbott, 1) Expands number of available nurses by reducing regulations and licensing requirements. 2) Orders all unnecessary medical procedures be postponed. 3) Reduces regulations to make more hospital beds available.”
Governor Abbott also formed a “strike force” to obtain necessary resources to fight the virus, including:
- Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
- COVID-19 Testing Supplies
City of Kemah continues to work with county, state and federal officials to combat COVID-19.
