COVID-19 Coronavirus Update | 3.19.20 | 2:00 PM
Mayor Terri Gale
Where we are now, it is unprecedented times and evolving rapidly. We are making the best decisions possible with the information we have to protect our citizens, businesses and their employees, and our visitors.
We believe it makes sense to reduce operations to only essential personnel to operate city hall and improve safety.
What this means is, effective Thursday, March 20, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. city hall closed to the public. Those who can work remotely will do so with cybersecurity precautions established by our information technology department.
We will revisit on an ongoing basis, the decision to remain closed in an effort to drastically reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 Coronavirus by practicing the best policies and procedures outlined by the CDC. Our intention is to operate this way for a minimum of two weeks or as long as needed.
We have been advised by Governor Greg Abbott to:
Issue an Emergency Declaration pursuant to Chapter 418 of the Government Code restricting restaurants, bars, and amusement park venues during the emergency conditions due to the potential spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus effective 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020.
We are in communication with local, county and state officials. Decisions are evaluated hourly as we move forward with an abundance of caution to protect employees and the community we serve. COVID- 19 Coronavirus Updates will be released as information becomes available.
