New lane closures for the SH146 project:
UPDATED LANE CLOSURES:
The City of Kemah continues to monitor the SH-146 Highway Expansion Project developments and their impacts on city operations, visitors, and the citizens of Kemah. As we continue to track these developments, now is a good time to prepare alternative travel plans.

The Texas Department of Transportation has produced the following information:
The 7th Street closure will stay in place until April 26, 2023. TxDoT had some issues that caused delays in getting everything installed and opened. TxDoT will also continue with the schedule of closing 6th Street on Monday, April 24, 2023. Transtar was updated showing the timeline of the closure. TxDoT will have traffic using 8th Street to access 7th Street to 6th Street. TxDoT is allowing the closures to allow the contractor as much working area as possible. TxDoT is trying to complete this work and have all access points back open before the end of May so that the Boardwalk will have better access for Memorial Day and the Summer break.
The 6th Street closure is only scheduled for two weeks; TxDoT feels confident about the two-week closure.

These closures are subject to change if needed due to weather, and additional notifications regarding changes or cancellations will be posted when made available.
