For the May 7, 2022 Election, Kemah residents will be asked to vote for the positions of Council Positions 1, 3 and 5 & an unexpired term for Position 2.

Candidates interested in placing an application for a place on the May 7, 2022 General Election ballot may file their applications between Wednesday, January 19, 2022 through Friday, February 18, 2022.
Any person wishing to file for candidacy may pick up an application packet from the City Secretary's office. Additionally, the Candidate Packet can be viewed and downloaded here: May 7, 2022 Election Candidate Packet.
Candidate Filing Dates and Times:
- Start Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 8:00 a.m.
- End Date: Friday, February 18, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Office hours will be extended to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18th.)
- Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements
1. Be a United States citizen.
2. Be 21 years of age or older on first day of term to be filled at election.
3. Have resided continuously within the City limits of Kemah for at least 12 months preceding Election Day.
4. Have been registered voter (possess current voter registration certificate) for at least one (1) year.
5. Have not been convicted of a felony or an offense involving moral turpitude for which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
6. Have not been determined mentally incompetent by final judgement of a court.
The City Secretary's Office will accept applications from qualified persons interested in running for any of the above-referenced places during the filing period designated by state law. During the filing period, the City Secretary's Office will receive completed and notarized applications at the City of Kemah City Hall, located at 1401 Hwy 146 Kemah, TX 77565, during regular business hours of 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. excluding holidays. Applications will not be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on February 17, 2023. Per the Secretary of State's CSO-3449 Advisory of August 30, 2020, candidate applications may be filed:

- By fax or email; "A signed, sworn, scanned candidate application (and petition, if applicable) may be submitted by fax or email if there is no filing fee (the City of Kemah does not require a filing fee). Please be advised that an application must be notarized prior to filing via fax or email."
