The City of Kemah's Emergency Management provides a robust emergency management program in collaboration with City departments, staff, administration, neighboring jurisdictions, and non-governmental organizations. The primary mission is to save lives, protect property, and safeguard the environment.

This mission is achieved through the following key areas:

  • Planning: Developing and maintaining the City's Hurricane-Emergency Response Plan
  • Training: Educating personnel on their functional responsibilities within the ERP, as well as in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Exercising: Conducting discussion-based and operations-based exercises to ensure readiness.
  • Coordinating: Ensuring effective collaboration at local, county, regional, and state levels.
  • Outreach: Promoting disaster preparedness and prevention to the public.
